Situated in the residential Harton area of South Shields “Tawaw” is a 2 bedroomed bungalow that boasts luxury, style and comfort with all mod cons and quality amenities. The name “Tawaw” was inspired by the owners’ Canadian trip and means “You are Welcome” in Cree Native Indian. We hope that you fully appreciate the beauty and charm of this true home from home.

The space

The space has been carefully considered, your comfort, safety. The whole experience at “Tawaw” has been thoughtfully curated and invested in by an owner with 33 years of experience in the hospitality industry.

Key Features:
The spacious open plan living room is a delightful retreat featuring a plush double sofa bed, a smart TV, flooded with natural light. The ultimate winter comfort and centrepiece is a log burning stove.

Enjoy cooking in a truly modern kitchen with all the appliances you need for your stay

Tawaw sleeps 4-6 people. Have a great night’s sleep in one of the super comfortable beds (1 double, two singles beds)

The Sun Room (attached to the kitchen conservatory) provides a second lounge with TV looking out onto the garden, as well as 2 sofa beds.

The bathroom sports a walk in shower and luxurious freestanding bath

In the summer the garden, patio area and summer house are a relaxing place to enjoy the sun.

The bungalow is also wheelchair accessible with a shower chair and portable grab handle provided.

There is free fast wifi internet throughout the home

The neighbourhood

Less than 2 miles from the beach and South Shields town centre Tawaw is also
a five minute walk to The Nook and Harton Village with restaurants and
shops and is only minutes away from public transport links including buses and metro trains. Newcastle, Gateshead,Sunderland and Durham are within easy reach as is Newcastle Central Station for National rail links.

Nearest Supermarket
South Shields town centre has two major Supermarkets in Morrisons and Asda and Tescos is a few miles away near the Simonside area of the town.

A large branch of Sainsburys is in Southwick near Sunderland and
Waitrose is situated in Heaton and Hexham just outside of Newcastle.
Waitrose also delivers to the area as does Occado.

Places to Visit
South Shields has a beautiful coast with a fun fare, leisure Centre and parks.

The Leas provide a great walk and just off the Market Square is a superb library called The Word. Additionally there is a museum of the town and surrounding areas in Ocean Road.

Entertainment
The North East is famous for nightlife and South Shields is no exception
with many lively bars, pubs, restaurants and nightclubs around the town.

Restaurants and Pubs
Ocean Road is famous for its many curry houses and ,of course, iconic fish and chips restaurant Colemans.

Colmans also has an upmarket restaurant by the seafront.

A little further along the coast road the caves at The Marsden Grotto Pub tell a rich history of smugglers; the caves were a hiding place for all manner of contraband in bygone times including French Brandy and cigarettes!

The Grotto is now a pub and restaurant; the walls are literally carved out of the caves. The external stairs are very steep and traverse the cliff side but there is a lift for a modest fee.

Don’t forget to check out local beauty spot Souter Lighthouse, a National Trust Property with a charming coffee shop. Entry is free with only parking to pay for.
A file containing instructions of all household appliances can be found in the kitchen and a guest file on the entrance table is full of suggestions for places to eat, drink and visit.

House rules

We offer flexible check-in & check-out times, however where we have guests coming or leaving the same day we may apply usual check-in times after 15:00 and check-out times before 11:00.

There is a keylock box available so collecting the key and access anytime should be possible. You will need to return the key to the keylock box when you checkout. We require you to provide your arrival and departure timing to agree checkin and checkout times so we can coordinate with other guests. If you stay beyond your agreed check-out time you will be liable to pay for an extra night at your average nightly price.



The cleaning fee covers cleaning and preparation of the property for your stay as well as a set of fresh linen and towelling provided for each guest. This includes one set per your stay, should you require additional towelling or linen please request this or if you have opened a fresh pack even if you use only a few items there will be a charge of £30 per pack - each pack contains fresh linen, large and small towels.

Any sort of parties, gatherings or events are strictly not permitted, the property is for accommodation purposes only for the guests staying. This property is located in a residential area and guests are asked to refrain from excessive noise or any activity that would disturb

the neighbours. If it's been reported that there are any parties or events or noise disturbance then you may be required to leave the property immediately without the remaining nights being refunded. There is a charge of £500 if any evidence of a party, gathering or event at the property have been found exclusive of any charges relating to damages or additional cleaning costs to get the property in good order again. We trust you will respect the property and neighbours during your stay.

You are required to keep the place reasonably clean & tidy - no dirty dishes left over or excessive rubbish to be disposed of as this is not included in the cleaning charge. If the place is very messy or untidy or there is excessive rubbish to be disposed of then we will need to request an extra cleaning fee.

There is a strictly no smoking policy inside or in any outside spaces (which includes garden spaces, balconies, terraces or patios) belonging to the accommodation, if this policy is not adhered to a charge of GBP 150.00 will be applied

No pets are allowed unless shown on the listing as permitted or expressly agreed with the owner.

Lost keys, damaged keys or getting locked out will incur a charge starting from £100 for replacement depending on the type of key and time required or getting you back in the property if you have locked yourself out.

We do not accept Cash payment for any of the charges mentioned above.

Guest access

Guest have access to the entire home during their stay
