The property is located at the edge of the Cotswolds next to the historic market town of Royal Wootton Bassett and close to the world heritage site at Avebury. Junction 16 of the M4 is just a short drive away and there are good transport links by road, bus and rail making this property ideally situated for working professionals or those wishing to visit the numerous attractions in the local area.
In Royal Wootton Bassett you will find several traditional English pubs. The Five Bells has a good selection of real ales and offers home cooked food, whilst The Cross Keys regularly screens sporting events. Alternatively enjoy a leisurely Sunday lunch at The Angel. The High Street has a variety of independent local shops and a market takes place here every Wednesday.
Also in close proximity is Lydiard House and Gardens where you can walk around the 260 acres of historic landscapes featuring a large lake, walled garden and church. Take a short trip on the Swindon and Cricklade Railway heritage steam locomotive in Purton or have lunch in their cafe. The Bell at Purton Stoke is the ideal place to book an evening meal following your visit.

Nearby Swindon has an important railway heritage, one of the largest railway engineering complexes in the world during the last century. Combine a visit to the Steam Museum with shopping at the Swindon Designer Outlet, housed in the renovated Grade II listed buildings of the Great Western Railway Works designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The Town Gardens in the Old Town area of Swindon are the perfect location to stop for a picnic afterwards.
At Fairford the world’s largest military air show takes place in July. Here you can watch live flight demonstrations including from the famous Red Arrows or walk around the large range of static air craft on the ground. The town itself is renowned for its Cotswold stone buildings and riverside setting.
From the Railway Station in Swindon it is only a short train journey to the city of Bath a World Heritage Site famous for its Roman-built baths. The Thermae Bath Spa has an open-air rooftop pool with spectacular views of the city. The next stop on the train will take you to Bristol where the city centre is walking distance from the station. Look around the harbourside or take a bus to Clifton to see the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge. The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, one of the largest in Europe takes place here in May. The cities of Cheltenham, Gloucester, Oxford and London are also all easily accessible by train from Swindon Railway Station.
Cotswold towns and villages all within an hour’s drive or less, include Bibury, Bourton on the Water, Burford, Castle Coombe, Cirencester, Lacock, Lechlade, Malmesbury and Tetbury. The Cotswold Wildlife Park at Burford, home to many different species of animals is set in acres of landscaped parkland and gardens, whilst Chedworth Roman Villa just outside Cirencester is one of the largest and most elaborate Roman Villas ever discovered in Britain.
Avebury is a world heritage site with the largest prehistoric stone circle in Europe. Other attractions here include Silbury Hill and West Kennet Long Barrow. Right in the centre, within the stone circle you will find The Red Lion, said to be one of the most haunted pubs in the country. Witness the Summer/Winter Solstice here as an alternative location to Stonehenge.
Other Interesting towns and villages within easy reach by car include Cricklade the first downstream town on the River Thames, Devizes home to the 29 locks of the Caen Hill flight on the Kennet and Avon Canal and Marlborough lined with old buildings, shops and pubs. Just outside Cricklade is The Cotswold Water Park, a large area with a network of lakes where you can participate in water activities.
Horse racing enthusiasts can reach the premier racecourses Ascot and Newbury by train. Both of these courses host world class flat and jumps racing throughout the year. The famous Cheltenham Racing Festival that takes place in March is also easily accessible from Swindon Railway Station. For those who prefer eventing the property is also a good base from which to attend Badminton Horse Trials in May.
North Wiltshire is home to some spectacular scenery with white horse carvings prominent features on the slopes of the Downs. Take one of the walking routes through these areas to explore this exceptional natural landscape. In the opposite direction outstanding views of the ancient landscape across the Oxfordshire countryside can be seen from the prehistoric Uffington white horse, the oldest chalk figure in Britain.

There is a convenience store close by in Purton, whilst Sainbury’s supermarket in Royal Wootton Bassett only a short drive away offers a bigger selection. In addition Royal Wootton Bassett High Street also has numerous independent shops, pubs and cafes and a Wednesday market.
We offer flexible check-in & check-out times, however where we have guests coming or leaving the same day we may apply usual check-in times after 16:00 and check-out times before 10:00.
There is a keylock box available so collecting the key and access anytime should be possible. You will need to return the key to the keylock box when you checkout. We require you to provide your arrival and departure timing to agree checkin and checkout times so we can coordinate with other guests. If you stay beyond your agreed check-out time you will be liable to pay for an extra night at your average nightly price.
The cleaning fee covers cleaning and preparation of the property for your stay as well as a set of fresh linen and towelling provided for each guest. This includes one set per your stay, should you require additional towelling or linen please request this or if you have opened a fresh pack even if you use only a few items there will be a charge of £30 per pack - each pack contains fresh linen, large and small towels.
Any sort of parties, gatherings or events are strictly not permitted, the property is for accommodation purposes only for the guests staying. This property is located in a residential area and guests are asked to refrain from excessive noise or any activity that would disturb
the neighbours. If it's been reported that there are any parties or events or noise disturbance then you may be required to leave the property immediately without the remaining nights being refunded. There is a charge of £500 if any evidence of a party, gathering or event at the property have been found exclusive of any charges relating to damages or additional cleaning costs to get the property in good order again. We trust you will respect the property and neighbours during your stay.
You are required to keep the place reasonably clean & tidy - no dirty dishes left over or excessive rubbish to be disposed of as this is not included in the cleaning charge. If the place is very messy or untidy or there is excessive rubbish to be disposed of then we will need to request an extra cleaning fee.
There is a strictly no smoking policy inside or in any outside spaces (which includes garden spaces, balconies, terraces or patios) belonging to the accommodation, if this policy is not adhered to a charge of GBP 150.00 will be applied
No pets are allowed unless shown on the listing as permitted or expressly agreed with the owner.
Lost keys, damaged keys or getting locked out will incur a charge starting from £100 for replacement depending on the type of key and time required or getting you back in the property if you have locked yourself out.
